Shirin van Anrooij The Netherlands
It might surprise a few to learn that, despite being firmly established in the women’s professional peloton for a number of years and a widely recognisable name, the multi-talented Shirin van Anrooij began her tenure with CANYON//SRAM at just 24 years of age.
Hailing from Goes, on the former island of Zuid-Beveland in coastal Zeeland, Shirin graduated from the junior ranks in 2021 with an impressive collection of time trialling honours, including European and Dutch titles and a World Championship silver medal. She made an immediate step into the professional ranks, remaining in the same team environment for six full seasons and evolving from an against-the-clock standout into an exceptionally versatile and complete rider. One of the first major indicators of this was her victory in the Best Young Rider classification at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2022.
To highlight just a handful of her successes on the road, Shirin powered to her maiden WorldTour victory with a solo triumph at the respected Trofeo Alfredo Binda in 2023. The following season, she recorded top-five finishes at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Strade Bianche, alongside podiums at both Dwars door Vlaanderen and the revered Ronde van Vlaanderen.
To put it simply, Shirin has proven her ability to excel in almost every setting. Yet, there’s more.
When the majority of the road peloton retreats into winter hibernation, the Dutchwoman simply changes bikes. Her long-standing passion for cyclo-cross has already earned her two UCI World Championship rainbow jerseys, first as a junior in 2020, then as an U23 in 2023 at a home championships in Hoogerheide.
For this very reason, Shirin officially became a CANYON//SRAM rider on November 1, 2026, joining fellow mud-lover Zoe Bäckstedt for a competition schedule that straddles the New Year.
Looking ahead, Shirin puts enjoyment firmly at the top of her priorities. But, when it comes to performance, there is one accolade that stands above the rest, having already represented her country with distinction on the world stage across multiple disciplines.
“I’d love to win an elite world title, but most important would be to never stop enjoying riding my bike as much as I do right now.”

2026
CANYON//SRAM made its debut at the highest level of women’s cycling in 2016, entering the UCI Women’s WorldTour. With 17 riders from 11 countries, the team brings together a diverse mix of elite time trialists, proven winners, and rising talents, each bringing unique strengths to the squad.
An extra dimension to the team is WeFemmes, an initiative by Canyon that’s built upon one simple idea – every woman who rides should bring along someone who doesn’t. WeFemmes every woman who rides should bring along someone who doesn’t – WeFemmes invites more women to discover cycling in a way that feels right for them.
