CLIMBERS TEST THEIR LEGS ON STAGE 2 OF SETMANA VALENCIANA
Shari Bossuyt sprinted to 15th place in today’s second stage of Setmana Ciclista Valenciana in Vila-Real, Spain. After an undulating stage, Shari rejoined the leading group that held teammates Neve Bradbury and Ricarda Bauernfeind. The duo then focused on helping position Shari for the bunch sprint.
“It was a hard stage, with the whole day up and down. In the final, I had help, especially from Rica, but I needed to find my way at one point. I sprinted for a position with one kilometre to go and used a lot of energy in that move. I had no power left for the final sprint,” says Shari.
Ricarda adds, “At the beginning of the season, you have to get used to racing again. After two days, you get into the rhythm quickly. Stage 1 was flat, but today’s stage gave Neve and myself a chance to test our climbing legs. We’re both looking forward to the queen stage tomorrow.”
The stage was won by Elisa Balsamo (TFS) who retains the leader jersey.
