Pauline wins her first XCO European title
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot closed her MTB season on a high, winning the XCO European championship for the first time in her career today.
The win came on the heels of defending her rainbow jersey at the XCO World Championships last weekend in Austria.
“I have to admit I found the week really hard to handle, mentally and physically. After winning the rainbow jersey and defending my title, it was such a big achievement and it took a lot of energy and concentration away from me,” said Pauline.
“I tried to recover and rest as much as possible, but then to turn around and really be fresh for Europeans was super hard. Much harder than I thought,” admitted the world champion.
“I started fast because the race was short, only 1 hour 15 minutes, but the lap was technical and you could never really get a big advantage. To stay away, and take a new title makes me super happy. My MTB season finished on a high with a World Cup win in Nové Město, World Championships win and Europeans this week, it’s really incredible. Now, I’m going to enjoy some time at home,” said Pauline.
