Flanders is the icing on my cake!

“Flanders is the icing to my cake!” describes Alexis Ryan. Her teammate, Alice Barnes calls it a brutal race. Team mechanic, Oliver Grabowski says “Flanders is the best race of the year, because it’s Flanders. No more words are needed.”

We head to Oudenaarde, Belgium for one of the biggest highlights of the season restart, Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday 18 October. The iconic race, affectionately known as Flanders, takes centre stage in the race program of many riders, regardless if raced in spring or its new date this weekend.

“Flanders is the race of my dreams. It’s my main goal every spring classic and in this special year of 2020, it’s my main motivation to keep going and working hard,” describes Elena Cecchini.

Elena, Alexis and Alice will all line up in the 135km UCI Women’s WorldTour race, alongside Alena Amialiusik, Hannah Barnes and Tiffany Cromwell.

“I’m extremely excited and grateful for every racing opportunity this season. Flanders is no exception!” said Alexis.

“A few changes have been made to this year’s edition, but most of them occur in the first part of the race. The iconic pave and bergs that are historically decisive return to the parcours. The aggressive racing style we have observed since the season restarted will be in effect this Sunday. The course is shorter than last year’s edition, which will favour more aggressive racing,” added Alexis
.

The action starts at 13:45CEST on Sunday 18 October and can be followed on Twitter with #RVVwomen and #UCIWWT. The race will be broadcast live on Eurosport, GCN app, Proximus and Flobikes amongst other local broadcasts.
