Kasia 6th at La Course by Le Tour de France
Kasia Niewiadoma fought back on the final part of Col de la Colombière and the descent into Le Grand Bornand to take sixth place at today’s La Course by Le Tour de France.
The race was broadcast to millions of viewers worldwide and didn’t disappoint with the win to Annemiek Van Vleuten (MTS) coming only in the last 10m before the line. An early 4-rider breakaway was caught as the pace was high over the Col de Romme, but it was on the final climb of the day, Col de la Colombiére that most of the action happened.
Niewiadoma, who finished third in the Giro Rosa’s final stage on Sunday, came from a small group to finish sixth.
“I’m really happy with how I finished the race today. At one point I was thinking that I didn’t know if my legs could turn over even one more stroke. But then you keep going and you see that you somehow still have something. I’m happy to get sixth. I was thinking that I could win the little sprint for fifth but in the end I’m sixth,” said Niewiadoma.
