TWO MORE YEARS OF CONSO x CANYON//SRAM

The speed, spark and unmistakable personality of Chiara Consonni will remain part of CANYON//SRAM for two more years, the Italian sprinter extending her contract through to 2028.

“I decided to extend my contract with CANYON//SRAM because I think I’ve given them 100% of myself, and I believe we can still improve a lot as a team. And the most important thing – because I find people that really believe in me and I want to give them something back.”

Since joining the team at the beginning of 2025, Chiara has made an immediate impression both on and off the bike. Her infectious personality can lift the mood of a room, while her racing instinct makes her a formidable presence in the peloton and a regular contender on the biggest stages.

Yet, while her warmth and likeability were evident from the outset, Chiara feels her place within the team has strengthened over the past two seasons.

“For me, two years ago, it was really hard to change everything, but I feel like many aspects have improved race by race, especially the relationships and the feeling between the girls. I think that if we are a group that really wants to achieve something, we can keep improving, come to the start with the mentality of winning, and then we can do it.”

For Chiara, the more technical, tense and cut-throat the finale, the more she comes into her own. Positioning, timing and a willingness to take risks are essential tools for a pure sprinter, yet conversely, her repertoire extends well beyond the bunch kick. A second-place finish from a heavily reduced peloton on an attritional stage at the recent Tour of Britain was proof that she can still deliver when the roads and racing start to bite.

But, her most cherished memory in CANYON//SRAM colours so far is not one that centres upon herself.

“It happened two weeks ago. My favourite moment that I shared with the team was when Kasia won on Mont Ventoux at the Tour.”

Racing the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift primarily in a support role, Chiara found perhaps her biggest lesson in the collective nature of success – one that also speaks to the selfless side of her character.

“I learned to never give up. I mean, everything can happen, but never give up. And also, even your smallest contribution can help towards a final result. The little things that everyone does can add up and help a lot towards the big goals.”

Those small contributions are one thing, but what does Chiara believe are the biggest strengths that she brings to the group?

“I think I bring belief and motivation to the team. I’m a person who can push others maybe a little bit more, but then I also like to show the others that I trust them, and that they can trust me too. And then, off the bike… maybe some funny things! Only this, because I’m worse at everything else – I’m always late…”

Her first 18 months at CANYON//SRAM have already produced nine WorldTour podiums, including two at the personally significant Giro d’Italia Women, one of the marquee events on the calendar. She enjoyed a particularly fruitful Tour de Pologne in 2025, claiming two dominant stage victories, the overall and points classifications. Her two victories in 2026 have come at the Vuelta a Extremadura in March and, just yesterday, at the revived Philadelphia Cycling Classic, where, despite ultimately winning from a bunch sprint, she was also spotted on the attack over the race’s brutal Manayunk Wall.

But, just as Chiara’s contribution to the team cannot be measured solely in results, neither can her own ambitions.

“I don’t want to try and achieve one particular race result, but I want to try to earn the trust of the girls. I know that I need to give them a lot for them to also give me a lot.

Also, I’m just excited to race and to stay with the same people, because now I feel like I’ve found a really nice group and I know everyone much better than I did two years ago. I think that when you know people better, you also understand how to push them, and they know how to do it with me. I want to work with everyone, and keep doing everything that is possible.”

That feeling is mutual. Team Director of Sport Rolf Aldag is delighted to have Chiara staying on, and confident there is plenty more to come from the Italian over the next two years:

“Chiara has a great spirit, brings an extra laugh, and always boosts morale. She’s a committed team-mate, and always has a really good chance to compete for victories in the sprints. She represents why we all got involved in cycling – being competitive while having fun!

We can unlock more from Chiara if we give her more support, and grow her confidence. Key topic: strengthening the lead-out!”

For Chiara, the next two years are about continuing to build something together, as a group that believes and trusts in itself, and is willing to chase what is possible. For her, that’s where the path to success begins.
