Trixi wins ITT stage and Lisa takes second on GC at BeNe Ladies Tour
CANYON//SRAM Racing’s Lisa Klein leaped to second place on the final general classification at the BeNe Ladies Tour today in Belgium.
Following from Trixi Worrack’s stage win yesterday in the individual time trial, Klein capped off a successful tour for the team. In a fast-paced final stage around the city of Zelzate, Klein took bonus seconds in both intermediate sprints to jump from third to second on GC. While Vos secured the tour win, Klein went on the podium again to take home the Best Young Rider jersey.
“I’m really happy with how this tour has finished. It was a really tough stage today. My teammates were working really hard for me. I’m not used to being in the leader position. It’s a great feeling to have their full support but it’s also a really special feeling and it takes some time to get used to that pressure I think,” said Klein after the stage.
“Without the team today I wouldn’t have got the results. They closed the attacks so that I could go for the bonus seconds and they brought back the only real breakaway of the day. It was tough and in the final sprint I was empty. I would have liked to be able to get a better result there, but I tried my best and I have to be happy with what our team has achieved here,” added Klein.
