NEVE BRADBURY CLIMBS INTO THIRD OVERALL AT TOUR DOWN UNDER
Neve Bradbury stormed into her first-ever World Tour general classification podium when she finished third at the Santos Tour Down Under. Climbing to an impressive third place on the stage and adding the bonus seconds, Neve jumped onto the podium to continue her strong performances at the start of the 2024 season.
While Sarah Gigante went solo to the line, Neve played her cards well, and was able to out-sprint Amanda Spratt (TFS) in a two-up sprint for the remaining podium place. Earlier crosswinds didn’t bother Neve and her teammates as they delivered the 21-year-old Australian rider to the top positions at the bottom of Willunga Hill. Teammate Tiffany Cromwell was also on the final podium for the best-placed South Australian rider overall.
“I’m really happy with this. It was great to have a crack on the climb and to be able to come out with a good result. The team were able to support me all day and Soraya did the last part at the very bottom of the climb. I couldn’t hold the pace of Sarah (Gigante) but I kept my pace and then I was happy to play the sprint well against Amanda and to get third on the stage and third overall. We’re all really happy with the tour!” said Neve.
Neve’s result capped off a successful start to the 2024 season for CANYON//SRAM Racing after Soraya Paladin took second place on yesterday’s stage around Stirling. Neve also took second in the youth classification and is ranked second in the UCI Women’s World Tour Youth ranking.
