Jule Märkl Germany

Immersed in cycling from a young age, Jule Märkl has regularly competed in track, cyclocross, and road disciplines, with her most significant achievement to date being representing Germany at the Junior Road World Championships in both Wollongong and Glasgow. Ultimately, her primary goal has been to follow in the footsteps of her older brother, a long-time professional, and become a pro cyclist herself.

Since signing with CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto Generation for the 2024 season, the 19-year-old has faced the challenge of transitioning into the open ranks.

“I found the step from the junior to the elite category was physically and mentally hard. Fortunately, I had good support from the team and learned many things about being a professional rider, my tactics, and every team member’s role in contributing to the team’s goals.”

Reflecting on her season, Jule points to the Princess Anna Vasa Tour as a high point, where she consistently stayed within the top 20 on every stage: “I enjoyed many memorable moments in 2024. I didn’t have big success on the results sheet, but I’m proud of how our teamwork improved and that I helped as best I could. The stage race in Poland stands out for my performance and to see my progress in the time trial over the last five years.”

Jule also made her debut with the CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto WorldTour team at the UCI 1.Pro De Brabantse Pijl and Grand Prix Stuttgart, gaining invaluable experience and insights.

“Having the opportunity to race with the WorldTour riders helped my development, and we were always encouraged to have a courageous and active riding style. After racing many different events, I started understanding what kind of rider I am.”

For 2025, Jule aims to better support the team by being present in the final moments of bigger and more demanding races, while continuing her development as a rider.
