Joëlle Messemer Germany

A top performer in both junior track and road racing, Joëlle Messemer stepped up to the elite peloton in 2025, handling the transition with remarkable composure. She quickly made a name for herself in Spanish racing, claiming victory at Gran Premio Igartza in March and two stage wins at Volta Ciclista a Osona in June. She also gained experience racing with the CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto WorldTeam at events such as the Baloise Ladies Tour, where Zoe Bäckstedt dominated the general classification.

Reflecting on her proudest moments from 2025, Joëlle says:

“I think they would be the three wins that I could take during the season. It was always super good teamwork and I was so happy to have the support and the trust from the girls. But also the races I was able to do with the WorldTeam were amazing and interesting.”

Joëlle’s cycling journey began in 2016 when her mother entered her in the recreational category of Eschborn-Frankfurt, a prestigious event that features a UCI Men’s WorldTour race and takes place annually around their hometown in Southern Germany on May 1.

“I had so much fun during the race that I went to a local club in Frankfurt and started competing in races.”

Her passion for cycling quickly grew, and in 2019 she moved to a boarding sports school in Kaiserslautern to pursue the sport more seriously. In 2024, she claimed two German junior national titles in the road race and hill climb, along with two European junior titles in the individual and team pursuits on the track. Over the course of her junior career, she represented Germany at multiple European and World Championships. As noted when she signed her first contract, the 18-year-old had long dreamed of joining a professional team.

“Since I started cycling, I always wanted to win races and earn a living through my sport. This year, I really decided to pursue professional cycling. I worked hard and gave my best throughout the season, and after some setbacks, I am very happy to sign my first pro contract with CANYON//SRAM Generation.”

Joëlle followed in the footsteps of fellow German talents Antonia Niedermaier and Justyna Czapla, both of whom now ride for the CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto WorldTeam but began their professional careers with Generation. Joëlle also joined Jule Märkl on Generation, a close friend who made the transition from the junior ranks a year earlier.

There is no reason why Joëlle cannot keep on the same path and reach the same level as her compatriots.
