Stage 7 of the Giro Rosa
Kasia Niewiadoma finished seventh on today’s Giro Rosa Iccrea stage from Cornedo Vicentino to San Giorgio di Perlena, Italy. In another exciting uphill finish, the seventh stage was won by Marianne Vos (CCC), with Niewiadoma just nine seconds behind.
Hannah Barnes after the stage, “It was fast and aggressive as expected. A lot of teams had in mind that it would be a breakaway day. With about 75km to go when we hit the climbs, it would stretch out the peloton, and then we would regroup again, and then break up again the next climb. It was hard on those climbs today. We’re seven days into the tour and it’s like we’re suffering the whole time.”
Niewiadoma added, “It was super fast today! I think that half of the peloton took yesterday’s ITT stage as a recovery day and used their extra power today! It was one of the harder stages of the Giro Rosa so far.”
With just three stages remaining, Annemiek van Vleuten leads the general classification, ahead of Anna van der Breggen (DLT) +4:08 minutes and Kasia Niewiadoma +4:23 minutes.
