KASIA 2ND AND ELISE TAKES THE QOM JERSEY
CANYON//SRAM Racing took another podium today with Kasia Niewiadoma sprinting to second place from a three-rider group as the Women’s Tour hit the hilly stages. Teammate Elise Chabbey gained valuable points in the mountain classification to take over the green jersey. Both Kasia and Elise moved into second and fifth place overall behind today’s stage winner and tour leader, Grace Brown (FDJ).
“It was a really hard stage today. I didn’t expect that the GC riders would go so early in the day. We went early and we pushed hard to stay away from chasers the entire stage,” explained Elise.
“The stage was always up and down so it was quite tiring but it’s the kind of course I like! Especially being there with Kasia it was a good situation for us. I could go easily for the QOM points as no one was really fighting hard against me for those points. It’s nice to have the jersey, and to go on the podium for the team.”
Elise hinted at an exciting queen stage tomorrow, “We have a strong team here, we are motivated and that is showing in our racing. Kasia and I are now both in a good position in the GC, and Kasia showed today she is strong. We’re really excited to go racing tomorrow!”
