SKALNIAK-SÓJKA SIGNS ON FOR TWO MORE YEARS

Versatile, powerful and exceptionally dependable, Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka will remain in CANYON//SRAM colours for a further two years, having signed a contract extension through to the end of 2028.

For Agnieszka, known as Aga by her teammates, the decision was a straightforward one:

“I feel really good in the team. I feel understood, I have trust in everyone I work with, and I feel like we are truly building something together. There is a great atmosphere within the team, and I believe that together we can achieve something really special.”

Rolf Aldag, Director of Sport at CANYON//SRAM, is full of praise for the 29-year-old:

“Aga is a very solid rider to have on board for the next two years. From a managerial side, she’s the type of rider that you’re always looking to have in a team because she’s very committed. She takes her job very, very professionally and is always there when you need her. In difficult situations, you know that you can count on her.”

“Aga can be likened to a Swiss Army knife or MacGyver – always finding solutions,” Rolf continued. That’s reflected in her yearly race calendar because one year she’s doing the Ardennes, the next cobbled classics, and sometimes the overseas races.”

Aga joined CANYON//SRAM in 2023 after a two-year hiatus from the Women’s WorldTour. Far from slowing her progress, the break proved a valuable reset, leading to a highly successful spell with a UCI Continental team in her native Poland.

Since returning to the sport’s highest level with CANYON//SRAM, Aga has found her stride. More than ever, she has flourished as a rider who consistently balances selfless teamwork with personal ambition, playing a key role in the team’s successes while never shying away from chasing opportunities of her own.

Season by season, her palmares continues to strengthen. In 2025, she etched her name into the history books by winning the inaugural women’s edition of the Maryland Cycling Classic in Baltimore, USA. The victory capped a remarkably consistent campaign that also featured 14 top-ten finishes across a diverse range of races, including a third Polish national time trial title.

The opening months of 2026 were comparatively quieter, but fourth-place finishes in stages at both La Vuelta Femenina and Vuelta a Burgos suggested that her form is ripening as summer racing heats up. Matching her career-best Women’s WorldTour result, first achieved at the 2025 Tour de Suisse, the performances reinforced a growing sense that a WorldTour podium is a matter of when, not if.

Looking ahead, Aga has her sights firmly set on that breakthrough:

“I would love to stand on the highest step of the podium in a WorldTour race. It is a big goal, but I believe in myself and in what we can achieve together as a team.”

When reflecting on her journey with CANYON//SRAM so far, one race stands above the rest:

“One moment that always comes to mind is my first start at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. It was a huge dream of a girl from a small village, and having it become reality was something incredibly special.”

Now with three appearances at the TDFFAZ to her name and a Women’s WorldTour podium seemingly within touching distance, perhaps the race that once fulfilled a childhood dream could yet provide another career-defining moment for Aga.

Rolf is equally excited by her capabilities and future potential:

“She’s quite fast, so she can score good results in sprints, which will continue to be a little bit her role going forward. Also leaning more towards road captain tasks too, which means making calls on the bike when the sport director in the car is behind without information or TV, and quick decisions are needed. It’s a good thing that Aga never really gets too loud, but is a very analytical person. In debriefs, she contributes very much to helping the team grow in the right direction.”

“Age-wise, she’s still far away from reaching her ceiling and developing her full potential. For a start, extra race and training kilometres – lifetime kilometres you could say – will make her better.”

“We believe there’s still a lot to come from her – as a team player, in guiding the team, and in results,” Rolf concluded.
