SILCA SECURED AS NEW TECHNICAL PARTNER OF CANYON//SRAM ZONDACRYPTO
CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto is excited to announce a new technical partnership with SILCA, a science-driven performance brand out to redefine drivetrain efficiency and inflation precision.
Founded in Milan, 1917, and now headquartered in Indianapolis, SILCA has earned a reputation for engineering-led innovation – from the first frame-mounted pump to high-performance chain lubrication for the modern era. Their philosophy is rooted in rigorous testing and real-world race data, prioritising measurable efficiency and improved gains. For SILCA, friction and rolling resistance are the true north of cycling performance.
Through this partnership, CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto will deploy SILCA’s advanced wax lubrication systems, drivetrain optimisation processes, and precision inflation and sealing solutions across training and racing. SILCA’s research shows that optimised chain preparation and waxing protocols can meaningfully reduce drivetrain friction while dramatically improving efficiency – advantages that compound over long race calendars and demanding stage races.
The collaboration goes beyond product supply. SILCA will work closely with team staff on performance testing, protocol refinement and technical education, grounding the partnership in two-way interaction, and reinforcing a shared commitment to elevating standards within women’s cycling.
“Elite cycling is a proving ground,” said Richard Pool, Marketing Director at SILCA. “We design products to solve measurable performance problems, reducing friction, increasing efficiency, and improving repeatability. Saving mechanics time by having our ecosystem be wax safe. Partnering with CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto & Generation allows us to work alongside some of the most performance-focused athletes and mechanics in the sport. It’s a collaboration rooted in data, not decoration.”
For a team racing everything from the Spring Classics to grand tour stages – over cobbles, through crosswinds and on hot summer roads – drivetrain performance and consistency is as critical as aerodynamics.
Jochen Lamade, Head Mechanic at CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, says:
“In the last couple of years, the oiling strategy has really changed from oiling a chain to now waxing a chain. SILCA is the number one in waxing chains because they’ve been doing it for quite a long time, they really know what they are doing, and they offer a lot of different varieties. You can really wax the chain with the amount you need, depending on the conditions.
“Our mechanics department was really pushing to have SILCA as a partner because, as I said, they have a really wide variety of speed, normal, and endurance waxes. This means that we can have different wax for the spring classics than for time trials, and for later on in the season at races like the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.”
SILCA systems have already been implemented at key races such as Omloop Nieuwsblad and Strade Bianche, where Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney achieved second place in both events.
With SILCA onboard, CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto is reliably equipped to maintain high drivetrain performance across vast terrains and climates, allowing riders to chase strong results all race and season long.
