ROSTER FOR TOUR OF SCANDINAVIA
CANYON//SRAM Racing are lining up for the Tour of Scandinavia on Wednesday, 23 August. The five-day stage race starts in Norway and finishes in Denmark on Sunday, 27 August. The team’s roster is Ricarda Bauernfeind, Elise Chabbey, Soraya Paladin, Sarah Roy, Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka and Maike van der Duin.
After a successful tour in 2022, collecting three stage podiums, winning the youth classification and finishing fifth in the GC, the team has high ambitions for this year’s edition. The opening stage finishes in Halden but with a new-look stage having two ascents of the short but steep Frederiksten climb before the usual 7km-technical circuit to the finish line. The usual finish on the top of Norefjell is on stage two; however, with a very different approach, it may have less of an impact on the general classification than many anticipate. The peloton travels to Denmark for the final two stages, with a welcome addition of the 16.5km individual time trial on stage four and a flat stage five to finish in Haderslev on Sunday.
Agnieszka says, “I’m happy to be racing this tour. Especially after having strong performances at the World Championships in Glasgow, I’ve been motivated to keep the form going for this stage race. We have a mix of sprint, all-round and climbing strength in our team, so it gives us a lot of flexibility. We definitely want to keep the good results coming for this final part of the season.”
“I’m especially looking forward to the ITT on stage four as it’s my favourite type of stage in a stage race. It really tests you, and I think it provides a lot of chances for the GC to change on that day, so we’re going all in for it.”
