Omer wins national title four years in a row
Omer Shapira won her fourth consecutive Israeli national road championships yesterday in Beit Guvrin.
Omer became the first woman to achieve four titles in a row, a feat achieved on the men’s side just once, approximately 40 years ago.
“I’m very happy to have won. The Federation split the women elite and U23 fields and so our peloton was very small. It created a strange race dynamic. My winning attack came on the final climb and I just went for it. I’m looking forward to wearing this jersey for another year,” said Omer.
That’s road national titles in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. An amazing effort Omer!
