NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH CORE
CANYON//SRAM Racing welcomes CORE onboard as a team partner for the 2021 and 2022 racing seasons. The team’s riders and coaches have been extensively trialling the CORE Body Temperature Monitoring sensor in training and major races this year. CANYON//SRAM Racing is excited to solidify its partnership with CORE to ensure it remains on the cutting edge of sports performance.
CORE is Swiss technology and is the first wearable sensor, easily clipping onto the heart rate monitor strap, that can continuously monitor core body temperature with medical-grade accuracy. The data available to the rider in real-time on the Garmin bike computers and can be analysed after training and racing by the riders and coaches. It is the only wearable solution that allows athletes to capture accurate core body temperature data without the need for an ingested or inserted thermometer.
“We’re excited that CORE is now an official partner of CANYON//SRAM Racing,” says Team Manager Ronny Lauke.
“In the time we have used the CORE body temperature technology, we have received vital performance metrics that have provided further insight into our rider performances. We aim to have a long-term partnership with the innovative CORE brand where we receive greater performance knowledge to help our riders reach their maximum, and we give valuable feedback to CORE on its technology at the highest level of women’s cycling.”
Riders and coaches are accustomed to heat training and the relationship between increased core body temperature and lowering performance and power output. The live CORE data puts real numbers on-screen and enables each rider to monitor their individual thermoregulation and tailor their training and racing to be able to perform at their best.
CANYON//SRAM Racing rider, Alexis Ryan says, “I have undervalued body temperature most of my career. I’ve known it’s important, but I didn’t have a convenient way to measure it. With CORE, I no longer have to overlook one of the most important indicators of performance in races where weather plays a big factor.”
Chris Blomfield-Brown, the performance manager of CORE, says, “We were already huge fans of CANYON//SRAM Racing and jumped at the opportunity to bring our technology to this leading women’s cycling team. This connection also represents a greater milestone where we can advance the performance and the science of women’s sport.”
“The team riders and coaches have impressed us with their knowledge of thermoregulation,” continues Blomfield-Brown. “We look forward to partnering with CANYON//SRAM Racing with our technology and expertise.”
