MORE MOUNTAINS AWAIT A ROBUST SQUAD AT TOUR DE ROMANDIE FÉMININ
While one part of CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto is currently racing in the Tour de Pologne Women, there is another impressive line-up preparing for the Tour de Romandie Féminin starting on Friday, August 15. After a short break following the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Ricarda Bauernfeind, Neve Bradbury, and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney are all back in action. Alongside the trio are Nastya Kolesava, Antonia Niedermaier and Alice Towers, providing the team with a well-balanced mix of climbing and domestique firepower. Antonia, who finished seventh in the youth classification in 2024, is again eligible along with teammates Neve and Alice.
Three demanding days of racing in the French-speaking Swiss cantons of Vaud and Valais await the peloton. A sharp, 4.3km uphill individual time trial sets the tone for aggressive racing in the ensuing two days amongst the general classification contenders. Stage two, the queen stage, shifts further into the mountains with a summit finish atop the 12.9km-long hors categorie climb of La Tzoumaz. The peloton will remember part of the stage route from last year’s Tour de Romandie Féminin. The final day never ventures further than 15km from Aigle, in a mixture of short, steep climbs and fast descents including côte du Châtel and the La Rasse climb.
Kasia’s fourth consecutive appearance on the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift final podium, also gives her experience in recovering and refocusing on the remaining season goals.
“I could feel that my body pushed hard during the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. I’ve been taking it easy on and off the bike to recover as much as possible, and I feel like I’m slowly getting there. I’m looking forward to the uphill time trial. It’s going to be hard and painful, but it will also really open up the body again for the next two stages.”
Antonia, who triumphed in the Best Young Rider classification at the Giro d’Italia just four weeks ago, adds:
“In general I like this race! It’s hard and I love the climbs in Romandie. I had a really nice time at home with some really good and hard training days. I enjoyed the time at home and the recharge. I think this race could be really nice for us as a team. The girls are all in good shape. For myself I hope to have some great results and to help the team.”
