Lisa wins the opening prologue in Gera
Lisa Brennauer powered to victory last night in the opening 6km prologue at International Lotto Thüringen Ladies tour in Gera. Brennauer wears the first leader jersey after she finished 12 seconds ahead of Amy Pieters (Netherlands National Team) and 14 seconds ahead of Olga Zabelinskaya (BePink).
“The course was tricky. Basically 3km uphill, 3km downhill with a fast and tricky finish full of corners and cobbles before the line. The road was very wet when I raced but just a few sprinkles of rain at the time. It was a bit of a lottery game whether you had sunshine, rain or just wet roads. I’m really happy with the win!” said Brennauer.
Today’s first road stage, 124km around Schleiz has several climbs throughout the course and is predicted to already show which riders are putting their hand up for the general classification.
“I think being awake throughout the whole race will be important. You need to be ready to go with any important moves. With so many climbs it will be important to be near the front and always be ready with your eyes open.”
