Lisa wins stage 4 in Holland
Lisa Brennauer sprinted to victory today on stage four of Holland Ladies Tour after a “perfect lead out” from her teammates. Brennauer won the bunch sprint with a throw at a line ahead of Chloe Hosking (ALE) and Roxanne Fourier (FDJ).
“It was a really perfect lead out. The last kilometres were quite crazy and hectic. My teammates kept me safe and were keeping the lead out at a really high speed,” said Brennauer after the stage.
“Two riders from Orica came passed in the last kilometre but at no point did we get stressed about it. We kept the plan and it was great that I was able to have the decision myself to start the sprint exactly when I wanted to. I know I can sprint from a high speed so I’m glad today that I could keep the speed until the end and no one could come round me.”
With two hillier stages remaining, Brennauer is third on the general classification, 30 seconds behind tour leader Annemiek van Vleuten.
“We have to be awake and we have to see what cards we want to play. Anything is possible, although it’s made harder with bonus seconds only at the finish and not during the stage. But we can take some confidence from today and our performance. We look forward to the last two days,” added Brennauer.
