Lisa keeps yellow after stage two
Lisa Brennauer maintains a narrow lead after the second stage of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour in Dörtendorf. The stage was won by Lex Albrecht (TIB) from a 11-rider break ahead of Marta Lach (Poland national team).
A four lap circuit finishing each time with the Dörtendorfer Berg, with gradients up to 16%, was lively from the start with several attacks. After Lisa Brennauer collected bonus seconds in the first two intermediate sprints to maintain her overall GC lead, Trixi Worrack then went in a 9-rider move around the halfway mark of the stage.
The breakaway swelled to 11 riders and formed a lead up to 1:20 minutes. Three riders from the breakaway made a late attack with 3km remaining and Albrecht claiming a solo win from this group. While Worrack finished seventh, Lisa Brennauer crossed the line 28 seconds behind the winner, but still able to hold her lead in the yellow leader’s jersey.
Going in to stage three, Brennauer has four seconds advantage over Amy Pieters (Netherland national team). The 124km stage around Weimar has just over 1200m in climbing and racing starts at 14:00 CEST.
