Hannah sixth on stage three in Royal Leamington Spa
Hannah Barnes sprinted to sixth place on the third stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour.
The 150km stage from Atherstone to Royal Leamington Spa was marred with crashes, including our own Alena Amialiusik who had to abandon the race after 40km.
There were constant attacks and when the final breakaway was caught with 10km to go, the longest stage of the tour was set for a bunch sprint.
“It was chaotic. My teammates did great, and were all there in front of me with 1km to go. Unfortunately it didn’t go as smoothly from there after and I was sixth,” said Barnes after the finish.
Kasia Niewiadoma (WM3) holds on to the leader jersey with Hannah Barnes now fourth on the overall classification 1:46 minutes down. Stage four tomorrow is around the city of Chesterfield.
