CANYON//SRAM GENERATION READY FOR THE TASK AT GP CHAMBERY

CANYON//SRAM Generation will have one of its biggest one-day challenges in 2023 when it races the UCI 1.1 GP Féminin de Chambéry on Sunday, 16 April. The team’s roster for the French race is Justyna Czapla, Nesrine Houili, Alex Morrice, Valentine Nzayisenga, Daniela Schmidsberger and Llori Sharpe.

The parcours consist of two laps of 8.7km and five laps of 18.5km around Chambéry-le-Vieux, for a total of 110km and 1709m of elevation gain.

It’s the first time the development team has had the opportunity to bring a CANYON//SRAM Racing rider to its roster, with 2022 Zwift Academy winner Alex Morrice and the team making the most of the new UCI rules between Women’s Continental and World Tour teams. Alex already has nine race days in 2023 and will enjoy the opportunity to gain another set of new experiences with the development team.

For her teammate on Sunday, 19-year-old Justyna Czapla, it will also be an opportunity to hone her race skills in a higher-level peloton.

“I’m really excited because this race will be a bigger event with a lot of good teams competing, and the course is also very hilly, which is good for us. It will be interesting to see how we can perform as a team compared to the others. I’m looking forward to doing my best together with my teammates,” says Justyna.

“There’s nothing better than gaining experience for our development at races like this! The level is much higher there, and we have to work harder together to have a successful race. We can also learn from other good teams, and all the experience we gain in these races will help us in our future careers.”

GP Féminin de Chambéry starts at 13:00CEST. Live updates of the race can be found here on Direct Velo.
