NEVE BRADBURY 9TH ON MOUNTAIN STAGE AT THE GIRO DONNE
Neve Bradbury had another stellar climbing performance on stage eight of the Giro Donne today in Aldeno. The CANYON//SRAM Racing rider finished ninth on the stage, just 9 seconds behind the fifth place after 104km and over 2100m of climbing.
With her effort today, Neve jumped to 11th on the general classification.
“The first climb was long but not so steep,” explained Neve.
“There were riders attacking but most of them got brought back quickly until Annemiek went towards the top which strung out what was left of the peloton. Then, it was just Elise and me over the top in the front group. On the descent, I was with three riders who were all in GC contention so I knew they would bring me back to the front where Elise was after the descent.”
“On the second and harder climb, Elise was just behind my group of 4 riders and since she is top 10 on GC, I tried to disrupt the high pace of my group and I didn’t ride so Elise could possibly get back on. I’m not sure what would’ve happened if I had the freedom of going full gas up the hill but Elise is still top 10 on GC so it was the best decision. I’m really happy with 9th place, especially on stage 8 of my first-ever Giro Donne,” added Neve.
Elise Chabbey is 10th at +13:29 on the general classification and Neve is 11th at +14:20. Elise retains the green mountain jersey going into tomorrow’s penultimate and queen stage of the 2022 Giro Donne.
