THE FIRST BUNCH SPRINT OF THE GIRO DONNE

Stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia Donne finished in a predictable bunch sprint. The stage win and new leader in the maglia rosa went to Elisa Balsamo (TFS) with Sarah Roy CANYON//SRAM Racing’s best-placed rider in 19th.

Neve Bradbury was the first rider away in a two-rider breakaway for the first 20km of the stage, picking up second on the only mountain classification of the stage. When the duo were caught a small breakaway went away until the final 20km. A long and straight sprint finish saw the first change in the leader’s jersey.
