Elena Cecchini took 8th place today in a bunch sprint finish at the UCI Women’s WorldTour Gent Wevelgem. The 136km women’s race started in Ieper, Belgium, and was one of seven categories of Gent Wevelgem races.
Despite strong winds at times, and two ascents of the cobblestone Kemmelberg climb, close to 90 riders came to the finish line in Wevelgem. CANYON//SRAM Racing led Elena out for 8th place, while Kirsten Wild (WNT) won ahead of Lorena Wiebes (PHV) and Letizia Paternoster (TFS).
