TWO TITLES AND FIVE MEDALS AT TRACK EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
While the Setmana Ciclista Volta Feminina de la Comunitat Valenciana may have stolen the limelight, three CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto dual-disciplinary riders enjoyed a highly successful five days at the UEC Elite Track European Championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
Maria Martins opened the medal account on Wednesday, taking third in the Scratch Race while representing Portugal, behind Fidanza (ITA) and Wiebes (NED)—both also balancing track racing with road exploits.
On Thursday, Chiara Consonni, alongside her Italian teammates, clinched the gold medal in the Team Pursuit, narrowly defeating Germany by 0.7 seconds in a thrilling final.
Chiara then placed 6th in the Omnium on Friday after starting the final points race in 3rd position, while Saturday saw the first appearance of Maike van der Duin. Representing the Netherlands, Maike grabbed bronze in a nail-biting Points Race, with Maria finishing 9th after winning the final sprint.
On the final day of competition, Maike van der Duin upgraded her bronze to gold in the Madison, representing the Netherlands. Chiara earned her second medal of the week, a silver for Italy.
That’s a medal for every CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto rider at the event, with all colours covered!
The next key event on the track calendar is the UCI Track Nations Cup in Konya, Turkey, on March 14th – a prelude to the UEC Elite Track European Championships in Konya at this time next year.
