Ferrand-Prévot wins the International MTB Catalan Cup
On Saturday Pauline Ferrand-Prévot won her first MTB race with CANYON//SRAM Racing in Banyoles, Spain. The victory in the International MTB Catalan Cup marked the start of Ferrand-Prévot’s 2017 MTB season. Ferrand-Prévot and Barbara Benko (Focus XC Team) quickly set up a race winning lead in the first lap and the duo battled out the race on the final lap of the 7km circuit.
The French MTB champion said she is enjoying being back on the MTB with her team CANYON//SRAM Racing and was incredibly happy with the win. “We started really fast and there was just us two in the front. We both tried to drop each other at various points but then kept coming back together. On the final lap I dropped Benko on the downhill and I had a 10 second gap. I didn’t want that she could come back so I said okay now I just go full gas until the finish line. I’m really happy I won.”
While racing in Spain, Ferrand-Prévot’s teammates brought Elena Cecchini to a second place at Ronde van Drenthe in the Netherlands. Ferrand-Prévot will join her teammates for the third race of the UCI Women’s WorldTour, Trofeo Alfredo Binda in Italy on Sunday 19 March.
