AGUA MARINA FINISHES IN THE TOP 10 ON THE QUEEN STAGE
Agua Marina Espinola Salinas was 10th on the queen stage of Vuelta Extremadura Femenina today in Pornial, Spain. Agua Marina and teammate Justyna Czapla fought hard to stay with the top climbers on the two QOM’s, the first 9km-long climb and the second 13km-long climb to the summit finish.
With over 1800m elevation gain in the short 89km stage, the race was a test for the climbers and the final opportunity to shake up the general classification. After her tenth place on the stage, Agua Marina moved to 11th in the general classification. After being distanced from the group after the first QOM, Justyna fought hard to return to the leaders as they hit the bottom of the final climb. Justyna finished the three-day tour in 5th place in the youth classification.
“I came with no expectations as I had been recovering from Covid-19. But I gave my best and am happy with how I could perform,” says Agua Marina. “As a team, we learned a lot, especially in the TTT stage one.”
“I’m very happy. I’ve never raced such long or hard races as at this tour, but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next races,” adds Justyna.
