CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR JUSTYNA CZAPLA UNTIL 2028
A product of Generation and now in her third year of WorldTour racing, Justyna Czapla has extended her contract with the team for a further two years, taking her through to 2028.
The most significant result of the 22-year-old’s career came at the start of this season, when she secured her first major WorldTour success by winning the youth classification at Australia’s Tour Down Under. That breakthrough has provided a major boost in both confidence and motivation, with Justyna keen to build on it within a familiar environment.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to stay, and for the trust that the team has placed in me. It means a lot to continue my journey with CANYON//SRAM, and I’m excited to spend another two years with the team, continuing to grow and develop. It’s a privilege to be able to look forward to that.”
Director of Sport, Rolf Aldag, is pleased to secure Justyna’s talents for a further two years and believes she will continue to be an exciting prospect for the squad.
“She’s a very talented young athlete and we see lots of potential still to be realised, as we believe she’s just at the start of her career. We are very confident that if we work hard, if we continue what we started a long time ago with her in Generation, it will lead to an exceptional athlete in the women’s WorldTour. We already count on Justyna as a valuable member of our team, and in the future we do believe that she can play a key role in the biggest races in the world.”
Rolf also highlighted some of Justyna’s key qualities:
“I think that with the combination of Justyna’s capabilities in time-trialling – where she’s already won some titles – and with her skills in climbing, she will be capable of targeting GCs in the mid to long-term. That combination of strengths is usually a very good recipe for a GC candidate. Her history is on the track, so she’s also very good at bike handling, quick reactions, and descending. Slowly but surely, we will try to work with her, giving her increased responsibilities. She’s already won the white jersey in Tour Down Under, which shows that she can focus on multi-day events and handle the pressure of a leaders jersey, so that’s the direction we want to go with Justyna.”
“My journey with the team started right after my junior years in 2023 and from the very beginning, I’ve felt comfortable and at home,” Justyna says. “Over the past years, the team has contributed a lot to my development as a rider and as a person, and I feel that this is the right environment for me. I can follow my own path, learn without being afraid to fail, benefit from the knowledge of more experienced teammates, and be well supported in every way.”
After two seasons focused on learning at the elite level and adapting to the increased physical demands, Justyna began to truly flourish in 2025. Her strong engine on the bike, combined with an easy-going nature, made her a reliable and selfless teammate, particularly during her first two Grand Tours.
A standout moment came at La Vuelta Femenina, where she claimed the best young rider jersey following the opening team time trial. At the Giro d’Italia Women, she further underlined her value to the team, playing a key role in supporting compatriot Antonia Niedermaier to secure the Maglia Blanca.
On an individual level in 2025, Justyna successfully defended her German U23 National Time Trial title in dominant fashion and delivered a strong seventh-place finish in a highly competitive U23 time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda, missing out on a top-five result by 25 seconds.
Fighting for her own general classification result in Australia at the beginning of 2026 marked new territory for Justyna. However, with her strength and experience continuing to grow, taking on greater responsibility and chasing more opportunities for personal results is one of the many challenges she is eager to embrace in the years ahead.
“Over the next few years, I want to keep working on myself and continue becoming stronger. It’s important to me to be a good and reliable teammate, and to gain experience that will help me grow throughout my career. Of course, one of my goals is also to achieve my first professional win and to start at the TDFFAZ. For this final U23 year, it would be great to win a medal in the U23 TT at the UCI Road World Championships.”
