CHLOE SPRINTS TO 6TH ON CLASSIC BRUGGE - DE PANNE DEBUT
Chloé Dygert finished sixth in today’s Classic Brugge – De Panne. With minimal wind throughout the day, the frequent scenes of echelons and small groups never really eventuated over the 155km course.
Lone or two-rider breakaways were the only change to the race situation as the sprinter team’s fought hard to bring it to a showdown in De Panne. Maike van der Duin played an active role in the race, trying several times to launch attacks. In the end, the final breakaway rider was caught with less than ten kilometres remaining. Elisa Balsamo took the win with Chloé fighting hard to finish sixth in her first race of the season.
RIDER REACTIONS
Chloé says, “Today was a hard day! I’m happy to get it under my belt and get used to being in a peloton again. I was in pretty good position going into the final 3km but without a strong leadout it’s so hard to not waste energy. I just spent too much energy trying to keep position and ended up sixth. I’m looking forward to improving every race.”
