TIFFANY WINS BOLERO GRAVEL WORLD SERIES
Tiffany Cromwell stormed to another UCI Gravel World Series victory, taking out today’s Bolero race. Tiffany made a late attack in the closing three kilometres and went solo to the line. Teammate Pauliena Rooijakkers finished sixth, a further nine minutes behind.
As an Australian, Tiffany was ineligible for the European Continental Championships and Belgian National Championships held concurrently. Well aware of the fast-paced course, Tiffany made sure she was well-positioned in the early gravel sectors. A group of four riders quickly went clear to fight for the victory and podium places. Tiffany managed her pacing and positioning alone and waited until an opportunity presented itself in the finale.
“It’s pretty cool to win. Just a shame that it was the first championship race I ever won, and I can’t actually claim the title,” joked Tiffany.
“It was a fun race and course and had a great atmosphere around it. It was a stacked field, and to be able to beat some big names gives me confidence ahead of next week’s gravel world championships. I had nothing to lose today. I saw an opportunity to attack close to the finish, and then when I had a gap, it was all in to keep going and hold it to the finish line.”
“I just enjoyed racing my bike today.”
Tiffany Cromwell is one of four CANYON//SRAM Racing riders who will race in next week’s UCI Gravel World Championships in Veneto, Italy. Pauliena, Kasia Niewiadoma and Soraya Paladin join Tiffany in the women’s race on Saturday, 7 October.
