7TH FOR AGUA MARINA IN TOUR DE L'ARDECHE
Agua Marina Espinola Salinas set a goal today to make the breakaway on stage four of the Tour de l’Ardéche in France. And she did! Finishing seventh on the stage and leap-frogging to seventh in the general classification.
Agua Marina said, “We got away around 30-35km. There were already three riders that had gone away before, and after a while, some others tried to jump across; I knew we needed to be there and decided to jump too. After chasing for a few kilometres, our group could join the other riders.”
“My focus was keeping a good pace and getting to the finish line with as big a gap as possible to the peloton. There were some attacks from our group, and with 10km to go, four riders went ahead. I needed to do almost all of the work from the rest of the three riders in the breakaway to try to catch them and keep in front of the peloton by as much as possible.”
“I’m feeling satisfied because my target today was to be at the break. And I made it just as planned.”
Agua Marina is now seventh in the general classification with three stages remaining. Teammate Daniela Schmidsberger is one second from the lead in the youth classification.
