ANTONIA CLAIMS BEST YOUNG RIDER JERSEY IN THE UAE TOUR

February 9, 2025 – Antonia Niedermaier took home the Best Young Rider jersey after the final stage of the UAE Tour Women today in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The young German rider finished the four-day Women’s World Tour stage race in seventh on the general classification and secured the award for the Best Young Rider by 47 seconds.

It’s a familiar jersey for Antonia, who has won the youth classification several times in her career, including wins at the Tour de l’Ardéche, Tour de l’Avenir, and Tour des Pyrénées.

Antonia says, “The Best Young Rider jersey is a nice motivation to start the season this way. It shows me that my winter preparations have me on the right path for the 2025 season. We had a new combination of riders and Sport Directors here, and it was good to see we could achieve a classification win as a team.”

“I had never raced here in the UAE before this week, and riding in these sorts of echelons definitely taught me a lot, which I can use for the next races. I’m looking forward to my bigger goals in the season, including some of the one-day races in spring and then the Grand Tours. I want to be in my best shape possible,” Antonia adds.

Antonia finished seventh on the general classification, +3:15 behind winner Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE). She held her stage three lead in the youth classification to win by 47 seconds. CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto finished third in the team classification. Teammate Chiara Consonni crashed in the sprint on the final stage but has not suffered significant injuries. The World Tour team returns to Europe for its next races in Spain this week, with the opening weekend of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium at the end of February approaching fast.
