Alexis third on the final GC at Festival Elsy Jacobs
Despite throwing everything at the final stage to win back the leader’s jersey, CANYON//SRAM Racing was forced to settle for third in the general classification after Alexis Ryan sprinted to fourth at Festival Elsy Jacobs in Garnich, Luxembourg. The final stage, the general classification and the youth classification was won young Italian rider Letizia Paternoster (AST).
Following the race, Sports Director Ronny Lauke said the team had an aggressive plan going into the final stage.
“We went in to the last stage trying to win the stage and the general classification (GC). We knew we had to invest and to take a risk, and with that we may lose everything. But we didn’t want to race to only defend second or third on the GC,” commented Lauke.
“The commitment towards that plan from the entire group was great and I couldn’t ask for more today,” added Lauke.
