Alexis second in stage two of Tour de l'Ardeche
On the second stage of the day at Tour de l’Ardeche, Alexis Ryan sprinted to another podium spot when she finished second in the bunch sprint.
After winning the morning first stage of the tour Ryan had the tables turned when Astana rider Arlenis Sierra, who had finished second in the morning, was able to win the sprint to the line against Ryan in the afternoon 55km stage.
The two flattest stages of the tour were both short stages but nonetheless raced aggressively. While winning the pink leader’s jersey after the opening stage, Ryan had to give it up after the second stage. With short stages, no bonus seconds were on offer, and in fact the top 21 riders are on the same time in the general classification (GC). CANYON//SRAM Racing are in the lead on the team’s classification after the second stage.
The GC may be a close battle until now, but with tomorrow’s stage starting with a Cat 1 climb, the classification is set for a shake up very soon.
