Alexis Ryan: The spring races in Belgium are my bread and butter
Tomorrow CANYON//SRAM Racing will line up in their final stage race of the 2016 season, the Lotto Belgium Tour. The team’s roster consists of three riders coming from the Boels Ladies Tour including stage winner Lisa Brennauer, Barbara Guarischi and Mieke Kröger. Fresh to the team will be Alexis Ryan, Tiffany Cromwell and British champion Hannah Barnes.
The four day stage race starts with a 4.27km prologue tomorrow afternoon in Nieuwpoort. Two flat stages and a final hilly stage around the city of Geraardsbergen make up the UCI 2.1 tour. Alexis Ryan who performed brilliantly in the spring races for CANYON//SRAM Racing is looking forward to racing again in Belgium.
“The spring races in Belgium are my bread and butter. I’m focused on finishing the season off strong,” said the 22 year old American.
“My goal for the Lotto Belgium Tour is to not wait for race-winning opportunities but create them. One thing I’ve learned from being on this team is that it’s far more rewarding to be a catalyst than a passive participant. I’m expecting this race to have a similar dynamic to those in the spring, where hopefully I can showcase my strengths.”
Tomorrow’s prologue action starts from 15:00 (CEST) and can be followed on the team’s Twitter account @WMNcycling and using #LottoBelgiumTour. Barbara Guarischi will lead the team’s roster starting her Prologue at 15:13 (CEST).
