10th on a queen stage two in California
Alena Amialiusik was again tenth today on stage two at the Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM Tour of California.
The 108km queen stage was won solo by Katie Hall (UHC) after an impressive race that saw her also takeover the yellow leaders jersey. Hall now has a 3 second lead from Anna van der Breggen (DLT) with two stages remaining.
Trixi Worrack said she is feeling in good shape, and that her team is looking forward to the upcoming flat stages.
“I have handled the altitude pretty well. It’s not easy but it’s better than I expected. Also when I won the Tour two years ago, the first stages in altitude didn’t have too much impact on me.”
“Today we worked well together. Our main job was keeping Alena out of the wind as much as we could until the final Cat 1 climb and we did a good job of it.”
“I think for tomorrow’s stage in Sacramento it would be good if there was a group that went away. We will have to see in the morning what the wind conditions are and of course the plans of the other teams – if they’re fighting for GC or a stage win.”
Stage 3 starts at 10:35 (PST) from Elk Grove to Sacramento in what is predicted as a sprinter’s delight: flat and crosswinds.
